Information Technology Support Technician II Purpose: Colonna's Shipyard is seeking an Information Technology Support Technician II to support our business operational needs in Norfolk, VA.
The Support Technician, under direct supervision, installs, maintains, tests, and repairs systems.
Utilizes intermediate technical knowledge to implement and support IT initiatives.
Provides technical support and resolves problems of a moderately complex nature.
May assist users/departments in implementing requests or proposals and in determining information systems needs assessments.
Job Description: Performs general problem solving and assistance on diverse software applications and hardware systems for department users and/or external customers.
Performs varied technical assistance and maintenance duties; maintains and updates record keeping system; documents projects.
Coordinates, maintains, and inputs applicable records such as, but not limited to, network users, security, and tracking inventory levels of equipment and materials.
Performs moderately advanced technological systems support, maintenance, and testing for proper upkeep of systems; may troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex system hardware, software.
Performs the installation, configuration and maintenance of computers, workstations and other related equipment and devices.
Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to technology, equipment, applicable laws, regulations, standards and/or systems.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or GED and at least 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Must have knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications, and hardware.
Must have knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
Must be able to record proper information on system updates, maintenance, etc.
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse workplace.
Must be able to communicate technical guidance and instruction to users on the use of PC and/or mainframe applications and systems.
Must be able to determine computer problems and coordinate hardware, software.
Travel Requirements: Minimal Travel; 10% or less.
Physical Requirements: Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Squat, Climb, Reach, Push and Pull, Stoop, Crawl, Kneel, Balance, Lift and Carry various objects and equipment.
General office environment.
Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 50% of the time.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available, but also requires safe navigation and regular partnership with operations teams within shipyard/industrial environments.
Movement through the yard often requires personal protective equipment.
Lighting an temperature are adequate and there is minimal exposure to unpleasant conditions cause by noise and dust.
