Command Post Technologies, Inc.
(CPT) is seeking a Cable Technician that can support cable management and installation.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities:
Install cable support systems in new or existing buildings.
Establish cable pathways as prescribed by industry standards.
Terminate and test copper voice/data cables.
Install termination blocks, patch panels and station hardware.
Install, terminate, test and troubleshoot fiber optic cable.
Collaborate with Manager and Customer in project planning and implementation.
Prepare and maintain daily job journals, configuration change requests, material inventory forms and all required documentation.
Requirements:
1+ years’ experience in the installation, termination and maintenance of cabling in a large enterprise environment.
Knowledge of category rated testers, cable troubleshooting (e.
g.
, Cat 3, Cat 5, Cat 5e, and Cat 6).
Advanced knowledge of fiber optic cable requirements, fire stopping and grounding.
Ability to read, analyze and decipher scopes of work; use basic hand tools, punch down, shears and crimp tools; ability to read floor plans.
Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work in confined spaces.
Ability to lift cable equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
Current certification in any of the industry recognized commercial or military cabling and infrastructure certification programs.
