Amentum has an immediate opening for a full-time shipboard electrician with experience assessing, troubleshooting, and repairing various shipboard Naval Deck machinery, such as Sliding Pad Eyes, Boat Davits, Cranes, Capstans, Antenna Tilting groups, and chocks.
The position will be supporting the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA.
If you have experience as a shipboard "A-Gang Electrician" or a Shipyard Electrician, this may be the position you have been looking for.
Essential Responsibilities:
Conduct Fleet Technical Assistance on-site or via distance providing troubleshooting and recommendations of corrective actions to restore equipment to a fully functional state
Conduct on-board equipment functional tests to determine if the equipment is performing per OEM directives and procedures
Conduct Assessments, Inspections, and Grooms determining equipment condition and out-of-specification settings
Observe the operation of the equipment by the ship's force to witness the full range of performance
Utilize appropriate measuring equipment to obtain data for evaluations
Evaluate findings and make adjustments and repairs as applicable
Provide On-board Maintenance training to the ship's force technicians in the operation, repair, and maintenance of Deck Machinery
Perform/Provide support during shipboard auxiliary systems tasking including Total Ships Readiness Assessments and INSURV
Suggest equipment engineering changes toward improving quality and reliability, and facilitate installation, maintenance, and repairs
Utilize computers including Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes
Communicate effectively in writing and orally
Interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics, and plans
Minimum Requirements
Six (6) years of experience within the last fifteen (15) years in the electrical operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of U.
S.
Naval Deck Machinery to include, but not limited to: Sliding Pad eyes, Boat Davits, Cranes, Capstans, Antenna Tilting groups, and Chocks
Five (5) years of specialized experience in troubleshooting and assessment of U.
S.
Naval Deck equipment, in the capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for either a U.
S.
Navy Engineering activity or an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)
Working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes, and reporting methods for visits
Experience regularly using accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment
Ability for interpreting wiring diagrams and control schematics
Must have recent experience within two (2) years
Ability to utilize computers including Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
Demonstrate an ability to interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics, and plans
Ability as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to troubleshoot, analyze and provide distance support for listed equipment
Active secret security clearance
