Virginia League for Planned Parenthood is seeking a full time Security Guard to join our VA Beach team.
Our Security Guard ensures the security, safety and well-being of all personnel, visitors, and the premises.
This role encompasses not only responding to alarms and emergency situations but also supporting general facilities maintenance.
The officer maintains a highly visible presence to discourage/prevent illegal or inappropriate actions and plays a key role in working with and escorting contractors, as well as reporting on security and facility-related concerns, issues, and incidents to management.
This position is required to be onsite during all hours of clinic operation and/or until the last staff member has left the building.
Typical working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm but weekend and evening availability is required as needed.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Patrol and monitor activity on the organization's property to ensure a safe and secure environment.
Support general facilities maintenance tasks and operations.
Work with and escort contractors throughout the facility as needed.
Report security and facility-related concerns, issues, and incidents to management promptly.
Make periodic tours to check for irregularities, inspect protection devices, fire control equipment, and the condition of facilities.
Monitor surveillance cameras to watch out for any disruptions or unlawful activities.
Provide detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and maintenance issues.
Attend regularly scheduled meetings with supervisors and other security team members.
Additional Qualifications:.
3+ years of prior experience in a similar or related position Experience in facilities maintenance or a related field preferred.
Excellent knowledge of security protocol facility maintenance basics Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations Capable of working and communicating effectively with contractors and maintenance personnel.
High school diploma or GED DCJS certification or ability to acquire DCJS certification within first 90 days of employment Virginia Handgun Permit and firearm endorsement issued by DCJS required for those 21 years and older who wish to carry a firearm while on duty.

All entry level positions at VLPP have a starting hourly rate of $19/hr.

Schedule: Hours may vary - Monday through Saturday between 8:30am and 7pm (Some Saturdays and evening hours are required).
This is a full-time position, 40+ hours a week.
Weekly overtime will be required as determined by clinic schedules as needed.
