How you will contribute to LifeNet Health’s success: The Clinical Referral Specialist will ensure timely on-site response, assessment, and evaluation of potential organ donors.
Interacts with hospital staff to set-up optimal family approach process.
Assess with the medical staff the care plan, neurological & hemodynamic status, and family communication plan.
Evaluates donor designation, hemodilution and ABO confirmation.
Reviews all assessments with the MOC and requests labs per LifeNet Health and hospital protocol.
Requests appropriate medical interventions with the guidance of the MOC.
Obtains appropriate blood specimens for serological and HLA testing.
Communicates with outside agencies to facilitate laboratory testing What you’ll do: Clinical Evaluation: Responds to donor referrals in all donor service area hospitals.
Performs independent assessment of potential donors to ensure the donor meets medical criteria for donation.
Obtains appropriate blood specimens for serological and HLA testing.
Communication: Communicates with LifeNet Health staff on all donor and referral activity to evaluate donation suitability based on information collected from patient’s hospital chart and communication with hospital staff.
Hospital Relations: Establishes initial dialogue with the hospital’s clinical team (HCT) concerning the referral to establish collaboration.
Communicates with hospital staff regarding LifeNet Health process and plans.
Assesses care plan, neurological and hemodynamic status, and family communication plan.
Documentation: Maintains accurate documentation in LifeNet Health EMR and hospital EMR in compliance with hospital Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and LNH policy and practice.
Reviews referral hospital medical records and populates LifeNet’s electronic medical records (EMR) according to policy.
What you’ll bring (Minimum Requirements): Associate degree or clinical certification – health related field Licensed or Certified Respiratory Therapist (RT) OR Paramedic certification or diploma (EMT-P) OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Valid State Driver’s License 2 years clinical/medical experience in a facility, hospital, or organization in Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, EMT or Paramedic, LPN Preferred Experience/Skills/Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree – health related field 1-year OPO experience managing clinical aspects of donation These would be nice too (Knowledge Skills and Abilities): Computer Skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Teams; (Excel and PowerPoint, preferred) Psychological Skills: Able to manage stressful situations involving complex clinical scenarios and family dynamics Attention to Detail: Able to perform tasks thoroughly and with care; checks work to ensure high degree of accuracy/completeness and early/on-time delivery Business Acumen: Ability to work independently.
Has in-depth knowledge of human anatomy and physiology and ability to communicate this to others Communication & Presentation: Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and build relationships with all professionals at various levels within and outside the organization Time Management: Able to prioritize multiple, competing priorities and manage time/workload; demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task, identify project interdependencies and potential risks/pitfalls Critical Thinking: Able to make decisions independently regarding medical management of organ donors, staff triage, logistical arrangements Logistical Analysis: Requires thinking through and solving problems step by step; often as to look beyond the obvious solution to a problem Teamwork: Able to be collaborative and work as part of a team to resolve issues, complete tasks and meet business needs Compliance: Knowledge in medical compliance and data sharing Why work at LifeNet Health?
