Insurance Verification - Patient Service Rep Full Time in office Virginia Beach The Insurance Verification PSR supports outpatient rehab office staff by researching and verifying patient health insurance eligibility, interpreting insurance benefits for a specific service, and documenting this information into EMR system.
Insurance verification specialist identifies when insurance authorization.
Must provide the highest level of customer service and professionalism to patients and co-workers.
Proficient in current software and maintains daily, weekly, and monthly reports for support staff as directed by supervisors.
Works closely with all members of the therapy team to achieve financial and program objectives.
Essential Job Functions Concisely and accurately document patient benefit information within EMR system to generate patient estimates.
Obtain and interpret specific program benefits under patient health insurance plan by using online portals or phone calls to payer.
Research and verify patient health insurance coverage and eligibility.
Register patient coverage accurately within EMR to ensure timely billing and reimbursement from payer.
Responsible for registering patients in a timely manner, as needed.
Prepares and submits insurance forms, obtains authorizations and any additional documentation in accordance with requirements of insurance companies and contracted clients.
Initiate prior authorization requests with insurance payer, submit clinical documentation that supports medical necessity for request and follow up on authorization status prior to patient’s first scheduled visit.
Maintains confidentiality in working with all patient accounts, insurance, and financial information at all times.
Complies with HIPPA guidelines to protect patient data privacy.

Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED Minimum Qualifications Minimum Years and Type of Experience: Two years in a secretarial position preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Ideal candidates will have experience with billing, insurance verification, collections, ICDM-CPT coding, posting charges, data entry, knowledge of medical terminology preferred but not required.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Must possess organizational, verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
