Saint Patrick Catholic School is currently seeking a Middle School Science Teacher to nurture and support our students in their personal and academic growth for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Responsibilities
Develop and administer meaningful instructional plans and Middle School curriculum that is aligned with the school’s academic and developmental standards
Develop students skills and competencies in one or more fields of science, including general science, earth science, life science and biology; develop students skills and abilities in scientific methods and problem-solving, as well as an understanding of the application of science in the solution of practical problems
Promote a classroom environment that is safe, respectful, and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning
Develop weekly lesson plans and instructional materials, and translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as needed
Provide constructive student feedback and grades in accordance with school policy and procedures
Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings
Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by school procedures
Ensure effective communication with students and parents; encourage collaboration and provide regular feedback (both written and in-person) to parents
Coordinate with peers, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum
Attend regular faculty and department meetings; contribute to teamwork and positive morale
Participate in faith formation experiences
Perform other duties as directed by school administration
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of a wide range of science subject areas, including general science, earth science, life science, biology and more
Experience teaching STEM
Experience with classroom management and working with digital technologies
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be able to solve problems without sacrificing relationships
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, crouch, crawl, stoop and run
Committed to serving as a role model for students
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Education, science or a related field
2-4 years of teaching experience, preferably in a science department
Licensed by the Virginia Department of Education (preferred)
