Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health invites applications for the position of PRN Weekend Receptionist.
Located in Norfolk Virginia, Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is a leading community partner providing acute, residential, and Partial Hospitalization treatment for children and teens exhibiting behavioral and/or mental health concerns.
The hospital is dedicated to providing high quality care to children, adolescents and their families.
We provide quality care to children and adolescents in need, using quality, evidence based practice treatments.
Founded in 1986, Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is an 82-bed hospital facility accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), and licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).
Reporting to the Executive Assistant, the Receptionist provides professional communication support by operating the hospital telephone system for incoming calls, greeting, receiving and screening visitors, and performing other clerical duties as assigned.
This highly visible position is the first member that guests and visitors interact within upon arrival at the hospital, and therefore must maintain a high level of communication and professionalism.
Key facts about this position schedule: Primary schedule will be PRN Weekends WIll Serve as a floater for other receptionist Position works well for those interested in averaving 15-20 hours weekly Additional duties and responsibilities include: Greets all visitors and guests, and directs each to complete and comply with arrival and identification procedures, including documenting activity within visitor logs; announces guests and visors to the appropriate staff or unit by following visitor control policies.
Operates the telephone system and maintains knowledge of overall facility systems and equipment.
Answers incoming calls promptly, and responds to and directs/routes to appropriate entity, accordingly; utilizes paging equipment to contact facility personnel; assist with intra-facility communications by takin messages, locating staff, and relaying information.
Fosters effective communication in the milieu consistent with therapeutic goals; fosters effective communication with staff members, and champions dialogue in addressing concerns.
Serves as a role model for patients/residents to observe and learn socially effective values, attitudes and behaviors and demonstrates Service Excellence.
Interprets facility and departmental policies and works cohesively with department in the attainment of organizational objectives Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Skill in the use of paging systems, including switchboards and overhead communication systems.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism, when handling any and all matters of elevated importance.
Demonstrated experience of 6 months or more providing receptionist and switchboard based services to guests; in a hospital setting preferred.
High school diploma or its equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities.
Skill in the use of computer systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) preferred.
Will be assigned to specific shift (weekend), but must have flexibility and ability to work alternating hours or shift, on rare occurrences.
Will serve as a floater for other receptionist as needed.
Must be able to handle multiple competing task, with minimum supervision, and take initiative on matters of revolving urgency.
