Snapshot of Daily Duties:
Procedure Room
Set up and assist physician with procedures.
Ensure that all the equipment is correct for the procedure and in good working order.
Safely deliver endoscopes to and from the procedure room.
Collect, label, and send specimens with the correct paperwork out of the procedure room.
Document thoroughly, accurately, and appropriately for each procedure.
Scope Cleaning
Handle all scopes in and out of scope washers for proper disinfection.
Manually leak test, brush, and clean endoscopes.
Monitor and record chemical concentrations per policy to ensure high level disinfection of equipment is complete.
Maintain documentation of reprocessing safety checks to include all scope repairs, disinfectant, and filter change records.
Notify supervisor of any damage found while processing the scopes.
Patient Admission
Accurately obtain vital signs as indicated and document on chart.
Escort patient/families through and assist in checking in of patients as scheduled or needed.
Assist in data collection to identify the patient’s needs, problems, concerns, or human responses.
Must Haves:
High School graduate required.
Previous medical office experience is preferable.
Previous experience with computers is required.
Must possess knowledge of acceptable parameters of pulse oximetry and blood pressures, blood borne pathogens and aseptic techniques.
BLS certification required.
Must have sufficient strength to move carts, and assist patients while walking.
