EKG Technician

Position Summary The EKG Technician is responsible for EKG Monitoring during stress testing (with and without echo), nuclear stress testing, contrast studies and saline bubble studies on patients to determine heart disease.
Major Duties and Responsibilities Prepare paperwork prior to patient’s visit.
Review patient files for cardiac history and indication for testing, medications prescribed and cardiac history.
Works with the physician to ensure patient testing occurs for all studies in a timely and organized fashion.
Prepare patients for stress echo, stress testing or transthoracic 2D echo study.
Conducts testing according to standard echocardiography and stress echocardiography protocol and procedures.
Prepares preliminary report for interpreting physician review.
Records patient information into NextGen.
Other duties as assigned.

Ability to troubleshoot equipment and maintain records for preventative upkeep.

Education / Training / Requirements EKG Tech certification required (CET) BLS CPR certification Physical Demands Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to climb or balance for limited periods of time.
Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs.
* Ability to grasp and hold up to 25 lbs.
* Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone.
Ability to speak clearly and understandably.
Ability to taste and smell.
