Position Summary:
The Cargo Flow Supervisor is responsible for optimizing the loading capacity of all the vessels within their managed scope in TEUs and weight.
In addition to vessel optimization, all ROB limits and other limits must be respected.
Vessels are expected to be fully optimized with the least impact to cost.
The Cargo Flow Supervisor will work closely with many departments including but not limited to trade, customer service, vessel operation, port operation and equipment.
Additional responsibilities of the Cargo Flow Supervisor include training of team members, creating reports and seeking out opportunities for process improvement and automation.
This position will be responsible to:
Monitor, calculate & report the CMA CGM booking levels of the relevant US ports taking into consideration draft restrictions, short leg, long leg and ROB allocations.
Engage the equipment department to direct equipment to the proper ports in order to fill vessels to maximum capacity.
Optimize the use of good stowage on CMA CGM operated vessels wherever possible
Highlight overbooked situations to Trade management and manage the overbooked situation with high efficiency to limit cost exposure
Review departure baplie files from the terminal after vessel departure and report final figures on the daily vessel forecast report
Review and validate cargo flow analysts’ daily reports
Train, guide and educate cargo flow analysts on their day to day responsibilities and processes.
Motivate team members and encourage participation in sharing new ideas and best practices.
Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.
Skill Sets / Education & Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma required.
Minimum of 2 years work experience required to include 1-2 years’ industry experience.
Advanced knowledge of the shipping industry
Knowledge of department policy and processes
Knowledge of allocation and various calculations
Knowledge of trade details.
Including geography, customers and commodity
Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook and Access
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel – experience with formatting, pivot tables, formulas and filters
Advanced analytical skills to assess situation, anticipate issue, identify trends and resolve problems
Excellent multitasking and prioritization skills
Ability to work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines throughout the day
Ability to apply sound logic and reasoning for problem solving and decision making
Good written and oral communication skills
Great attention to detail and strong organization skills
Ability to take ownership in respective services
Leadership skills
Skill Sets / Education & Experience Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Previous supervisory experience preferred
