As part of CHKD’s commitment to address a critical mental health crisis among youth, the health system is building a $224 million, 60-bed mental health hospital, which includes a partial hospitalization program and robust outpatient services.

CHKD and Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) are currently looking for exceptional candidates to fill several child clinical psychologist positions.
Located in Norfolk, Virginia, CHKD is the state’s only freestanding children’s hospital.
The teaching hospital is a part of the Hampton Roads region, located 150 miles from Washington DC and less than a two-hour drive from the pristine barrier islands that comprise North Carolina’s Outer Banks.
The Clinical Director of the Intensive Services - Neurodevelopmental Unit (NDU) is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist whose responsibilities combine clinical activities and leadership, providing a full range of direct and indirect care services in an innovative interdisciplinary setting.
Direct psychological services include evidence-based assessment and treatment to children and families.
Indirect patient care includes program development and evaluation; oversight of NDU treatment program delivery by milieu/behavioral therapists; collaboration with nursing, psychiatry, and pediatrics, and any other specialties as appropriate; and clinical supervision and oversight.
Faculty appointment at Eastern Virginia Medical School is available for qualified individuals.
Opportunities to conduct research are open to discussion.
*Licenses and/or Certifications:*
* Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a Clinical Psychologist by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Board of Psychology.
* Advanced training in Applied Behavior Analysis or intensive behavioral intervention approaches.
*Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:*
* Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, either a PsyD or PhD from an APA/CPA accredited program.
* Successful completion of an APA/CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship.
* Previous clinical experience in pediatric/clinical child and adolescent psychology treating youth with neurodevelopmental disorders.
* Experience with service delivery in inpatient or residential treatment settings preferred.
* Experience providing clinical supervision to mental health providers.
