The Opportunity: Manager, Crane Maintenance The Port of Virginia – Virginia International Terminals is seeking a Manager, Crane Maintenance to manage the maintenance and safe operation of cranes for Port of Virginia (POV) facilities.
Oversee various types of cranes and equipment repair and maintenance that may include Ship-to-Shore cranes, remote/automated/piloted stacking cranes, trans-lifters, and shuttle trucks.
What You'll Do: Responsibilities Promote safety awareness within the department and ensure compliance with all safety procedures, policies, and regulations, as well as OSHA guidelines.
Foster a work environment that is safe and consistent with the values of the POV.
Develop and implement training programs on preventative and corrective maintenance methods.
Manage adherence to the crane maintenance budget.
Minimize operating costs by eliminating redundancies, refining processes, optimizing utilization of resources, and maintaining high productivity levels.
Contract maintenance labor at non-ILA facilities (such as RMT) and contract warranty and non-warranty out of skill-set labor at ILA facilities.
Ensure ongoing compliance to labor contracts, requirements, and agreements.
Prioritize and coordinate repairs and parts procurement to ensure maintenance teams have the resources, supplies, and tools necessary for daily activities.
Responsible for all other duties as assigned, such as managing the Environmental Management System.
Manage Assistant Crane Managers and Crane Maintenance Technicians / Mechanics in day-to-day operations.
Promote a team-based culture and provide ongoing feedback.
Coach team members through issues or escalations.
Measure and evaluate performance of team members.
Implement disciplinary actions as needed.
Oversee scheduling and work execution.
Prioritize crane maintenance and repair work needs and how cranes are repaired.
Assess staffing levels to ensure adequate number of workers are available and scheduled to fulfill maintenance and repair needs.
Order repairs, ranging from simple to very complex, based on best-known industry standards and according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and requirements.
Ensures compliance with all security, safety, and environmental regulations and policies within work area at all times.
This includes properly addressing issues through action or reporting issues and concerns to Manager.
All other duties as assigned.
Who You Are: Qualifications Five years of related crane maintenance experience; three of those years must be in Leadership capacity.
Experience with electronic components, network communications, power distribution, optical communications, and high-voltage equipment required.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering may be substituted for related experience.
Technical Certification Required.
