VCAN provides access to an undergraduate education and offers free tuition to support students across the Commonwealth.
The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of Recruitment.
Manages several components of the VCAN program that include reviewing, scheduling, and coordinating all logistics for recruitment, application process, orientation, and various events.
Manage student communication both prospective and current students, including meeting prospective students, monitoring student progress, and responding to student concerns.
Responsible for overseeing the office budget.
Responsible for developing, implementing/executing, and assessing all retention programs.
Maintain program student records using the University systems to include Ellucian Colleague and Recruit.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining local high school and community college partnerships.
Responsible for developing and creating a marketing and recruitment plan to assist in identifying eligible students.
Works collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, Transfer Admissions and Services, Financial Aid, Registrar, New Student Orientation, Student Success Center, Dean of Students, and representatives from the Academic Schools.
Assists with the collection, organization, analysis of data to include but not limited to tracking students’ academic progress and financial aid award packages.
Collaborates with academic and co-curricular departments to create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant campus life experience for all students.
Serves on campus-wide committees and community coalitions as appropriate.
Responsible for assessment reporting.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two to four years of demonstrated experience in recruiting students to a university environment and/or working with Student Access Programs.
Experience in program development including open houses, scholarship programs, or other special programs in a university environment.
Experience in developing partnerships with high schools and other community and civic organizations.
Demonstrated leadership and effectiveness in promoting respect.
