Job Duties
Provide leadership and services of programs that facilitate adherence to curricula pathways, academic enrichment and skill development, enhanced knowledge of course content and self-efficacy.
Coordinate, manage, plan and/or deliver programs and events that facilitate student's progress toward achieving their education goals, with a focus on first- and second-year experiences, summer bridge, and mentoring.
Coordinates and provides leadership for conceptualizing and implementing first and second-year experience programs for the university, recruit qualified student applicants for the programs, implement appropriate academic, enrichment, and skill activities and initiatives for skill development, coordinate appropriate support, and academic support services.
Minimum Qualifications
1.
Demonstrate the ability to effectively plan (to meet short term and long range), deliver and monitor and assess programs and events.
2.
Working knowledge of retention initiatives and practices focused on freshmen and sophomores.
3.
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
4.
Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and train staff
5.
Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
6.
Working knowledge of mentoring
7.
Ability to work with and interact effectively with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
8.
Ability to assess, analyze, and report data (written and verbally)
9.
Demonstrated technological and computer skills (e.
g.
, the ability to conduct internet research and word processing and utilize database software)
10.
Knowledge of the applicable federal and state regulations governing areas related to the responsibilities of the position including the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
11.
Three years of experience working with program development, coordination, and implementation
12.
Experience supervising staff and/or students in a higher education setting
13.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
1.
Experience serving first generation, minority populations and non-traditional college student populations.
2.
Understanding of principles, practices, and procedures involved in FYE/SYE program development, best practices, and issues related to first year student transition, development, and retention.
3.
Experience planning large scale events.
4.
Experience with data collection and analysis
5.
Demonstrated knowledge of First- and Second-Year programs& initiatives, Summer Bridge programs, and learning communities
6.
Earned doctorate degree in Education, Counseling, Student Personnel Development, Psychology, Sociology
