Bar / Restaurant Manager The Black Tuna Restaurant located inside of the Wyndham Garden Downtown Norfolk, is conducting a search for an accomplished and talented Restaurant/Bar Manager.
We are looking for an individual that will help us build a new restaurant-bar concept.
Someone to champion our food, service, cocktails and marketing initiatives.
Ideally we would like to find someone who is looking to build their career in the service industry & grow with us.
This person must have a can do / whatever it takes attitude.
Must be able to balance working in a fun bar environment and holding employees working in FOH & BOH positions to a standard.
Must have an eye for detail and understand that creating a new vibe and becoming one of neighborhoods favorite local destination is very important to us.
Our Goal: We would like to be known for having unique scratch made bar items.
For that we need a creative individual that can develop exciting new offerings with a twist and make it our guests favorites, like PB&J wings, tin can nachos, Mexican street corn, craft burgers & sandwich's as well as bowls and vegetarian items.
Source wine, beer and spirits from small local producers by maintaining direct relationships with these vendors.
Make the scratch bar notorious by utilizing extensive social media interaction while requesting positive reviews with every opportunity.
Ask for guest suggestions and make sure that our cocktails are on par with the best bars in town.
In time, offer wine, beer and spirit maker dinners and buyouts for special or corporate events.
Support local musicians and explore some live music a few nights a week.
We are looking for an exemplary marketing creative out of the box individual who will enjoy building a new talented and professional staff.
This position offers considerable growth potential as we grow our brand and concepts.
Job Description Desired Skills and Experience: • Full service restaurant management: Minimal 3 years (Required) with a strong bar management or leadership position in high volume bar with food.
• Proven success in previous positions • Ability to demonstrate solid knowledge of wine, beer, spirits and the principles of mixology • Proficient in drink menu engineering, cost analysis/controls, purchasing and inventory The Ideal Candidate Possesses • A welcoming, sociable, hospitable and happy personality with a can-do attitude • A polished, professional presentation and approach • A strong desire to create an amazing customer experience • Ability to handle stress and maintain professional demeanor • Strong communication skills • Demonstrate outstanding leadership, communication, and training • Stable and consistent work history in the Hospitality Field • Confident in coaching employees FOH & BOH and upholding standards in a positive and effective manner.
• Has eye for detail and has an "every plate is someone's meal" mentality.
• Previous bartending experience is a must Key responsibilities but not limited to: • Bartender providing exemplary hospitality and customer service • Ongoing menu development costing, ordering, and Inventory management • Collaborate with Executive Chef, GM and makers on wine, beer and spirit dinners • Work with customers to develop drink menus for any buyouts and special events • Maintain bar cleanliness, service standards, recipe & bar book • Assist with recruiting, training, scheduling, motivating, and overseeing staff • Maintain bar deep cleaning schedule and check list • Take an active role to meet the financial goals of the bar • Handle bar deliveries • Maintain condition of inventory • Enforce health, safety, and liquor laws • Ability to work closely and collaborate with owners, managers and staff • Foster and maintain relationships with distributors and vendors • Maintain knowledge of competition and industry trends Additional Details/ Requirement • Covid-19 vaccination required • Job Available immediately • Compensation: Based on Experience • Bonus Plan: Yes • Management Position: Yes • Entry Level Position: No Benefits: • Medical, Dental, Vision & life insurance • 401(k) with company match • Hotel discount • Holiday pay • Training and development, Opportunity for growth and Much More!
