St.
Matthew’s Catholic School is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with a variety of skill sets to oversee and manage the school’s cafeteria.
The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic role model who is passionate about sharing the Catholic faith, capable of working collaboratively with colleagues and school families, and demonstrate a commitment to advance the mission of the school.
The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of food preparation, cooking, and serving in large quantities.
Knowledge of food quality and values.
Knowledge of the practices used in receiving and storing food in large quantities.
Knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety measures used in food handling and operation, cleaning, and care of utensils, equipment, and work area.
Responsibilities and Tasks: Oversee meal preparation and cook and serve meals.
Open kitchen, set up equipment, and prepare cafeteria for serving.
Prepare and serve fruits, desserts, salads, soups, and other foods.
Wash pots, pans, kettles, and other cooking utensils.
Operate dishwasher, mixer, chopper, slicer, steamers, ovens, and other food service and mechanical equipment.
Clean work surfaces, eating, and food preparation area.
Order food supplies.
Receive and stock food supplies and maintain sanitary conditions.
Possesses a Food Manager License to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment and ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
Perform other related duties as required/assigned Qualifications: High school diploma or its equivalent.
Ideally two or three years of commercial or institutional experience in food preparation.
Possession of or ability to acquire appropriate license(s), certificate(s), and/or endorsement(s) for position as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Working Conditions: Full size school kitchen and cafeteria.
Full time position (10 Months), approximately 40 hours per week.
Physical Demands: Light physical effort required.
May need to transport items weighting up to 30 pounds.
Will be required to stand for extended periods of time.
