These were my Father's speakers.
He bought these at a place called Audio Enterprise back in 1980.
These are the original 1st editions.
Pic 1 you can see the top circular screen is missing.
They have been tested and all in working condition.
Please call or e-mail with any questions.
Amps: Power amp Citation XX--bought at the same time at same place--comes in large Citation Crate
Pre-amp=Citation X-II.
Would consider offer on these but I will have to research.
An icon is born
The iconic 800 series has an important history to cherish, which is why Bowers & Wilkins is not taking any chances when it launches a new and upgraded generation of these speakers.
It all started back in 1979, with the company’s first version of the 801.
The technology was absurdly modern for the time, including laser measurements of the behaviour of the speaker elements and of how the sound waves travel along the diaphragms.
The loudspeaker was designed according to mathematical formulas, rather than trial and error with sound testers.
Unheard of at the time!

The loudspeakers didn’t look like others, almost like building blocks stacked on top of each other.
John Bowers strongly believed that the sound would be best if the midrange, tweeter and 10-inch woofer were each in their own cabinet, so that they did not affect each other.
