Duties
As a Ship Operations Specialist, you will:
Provide senior level advice relative to sea operations, port, and littoral matters for the Area Division.
Participate in and makes contributions to management decisions in assigned program areas.
Apply a wide range of concepts, laws, policies, practices, analytical, and diagnostic methods and techniques to address substantive technical issues or problems characterized by complex, controversial, and/or sensitive matters that contain several inter-related issues.
Review independently, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems.
Perform complex administrative responsibilities which requires the planning, organizing, directing, operating and evaluation of a safety and occupational health program.
Coordinate all regulatory, safety, security, and environmental concerns with respect to the Region’s ships, assist the Staff Shipping Supervisor (SSS) in conducting operational and analytical studies, develop and prepare legal documentation.
The Ideal Candidate is a mid-level individual with experience in operations, environmental compliance, safety, emergency plans, physical security, communications and electronics systems operations and military liaison for MARAD ships.
