Description
The City of Norfolk's Department of Parks and Recreation is currently seeking multiple Recreation Aides to assist with providing customer service to program participants and support recreational programming.
Work involves providing assistance with facility operations, tours, fitness classes, and monitoring fitness areas.
Additionally, the position is responsible for the set up of site specific functions relating to aquatics programming.

Essential Functions
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Assists with planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational programs and daily activities.
Interacts with youth, teens, adults, and seniors to develop positive relationships with participants.
Provide oversite and direction of program participants.
Perform administrative duties including answering phones, responding to walk-in patrons and public inquires.
Completing forms, setting up and breaking down program areas.
Maintain facility cleanliness.
Education/Experience
Requires level of knowledge equivalent to less than high school or equivalency; High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
The preferred candidate will possess:
A High School Diploma or equivalent.
Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (required within 6 months of hire).
Experience working with children and/or youth in a recreation setting.
Excellent inter-personal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to effectively interact with and contribute to the growth and development of diverse citizen groups.
A professional demeanor and appearance.

Work Location: Various locations throughout the City of Norfolk
Work Hours: Monday to Sunday; 6:00 a.
m.
- 12:00 a.
m.
; not to exceed 40 hours per week; flexible hours will apply including weekends, holidays, and special events
